Host Ordinance is Adopted in Chisago County!

On
Wednesday evening, July 7th, Chisago County’s Board of
Commissioners voted unanimously in favor of adopting the Social
Host Ordinance! This ordinance makes it illegal to provide
a place for underage drinking to take place. Thank you to the
Chisago County Underage Drinking Task Force and the students
who led this initiative. A special thanks goes out to Alex
Vrudny and Patrick McCarthy of Chisago Lakes High School ,
two of the students from the original team who spoke at the
public hearing on Wednesday. Thanks also to Hazelden’s
Dr.Joseph Lee who presented information on the devastating
effects of alcohol on the adolescent brain. Thanks also to
the many other community members, parents, law enforcement,
school personnel, and officials from public health and other
organizations who spoke in favor of the ordinance. There were
no public comments against the ordinance! This ordinance provides
us all with the opportunity to reinforce a clear and consistent
community-wide message that underage drinking is illegal, unhealthy,
unsafe, and unacceptable. Congratulations to all for making
